Recorded between 1999 and 2006, Uneasy Listening is a collection of rare tracks, alternate versions and acoustic renditions of some of HIM's best known songs. If you’re familiar with the band's Single Collection, you'll find a few of those b-sides on this release. Other songs here previously could be found across the Net and in peer-to-peer sharing programs. For die-hard HIM fans, it's nice to finally have these songs ready and available on one organized recording.
Acoustic versions of “The Funeral of Hearts” and “Please Don't Let It Go” and the excellent “In Joy and Sorrow (String Version)” all show up here, as well as the Thulsa Doom Mixes of “Salt in Our Wounds” and “Lose You Tonight.” Other highlights are the unplugged radio versions of “For You” and “It's All Tears.”
HIM's romantic goth rock, which the band refers to as “love metal,” translates well acoustically. These alternate versions are a perfect stop-gap for fans eagerly awaiting new material. And fans who recently got into the band by way “Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly” on the radio will be pleasantly surprised by these takes on HIM's previous material. With the amount of b-sides and other rare HIM tracks still floating around out there one wonders how many volumes of Uneasy Listening there will be.
