ATTILA
‘The Soundtrack to a Party’ (Statik Factory Records)

Review by Jeff Maki
Attila's The Soundtrack to a Party is the first release I've heard from Florida's Statik Factory Records. I usually don't like to bash bands too hard on Live-Metal.net, but this one just aches for it. The band's self-described “partycore” seems like it could be something fresh and full of energy. Instead we get a mostly incoherent blend of noisecore and ultra-sloppy musicianship. OK, so the boys in Atilla like to party. We get it. From the album's appealing layout, featuring photos of a hot chick-afterparty with the band, to the band's colorful bio, we get it. So is it necessary that the band sounds like they are intoxicated on the album? The vocals are god-awful, mostly high-pitched screaming and odd animal-like noises, and everything seems way out of whack musically. The lyrics are outlandish and have potential, but they are indecipherable. It's rare that I can't make out a least a few vocal lines on an album; this might be the exception. It also doesn't help that everything here blends together into one giant, icky glob of noise. That's not all. The worse is yet to come. According to the band's bio, lead vocalist Chris Fronzak was featured in the MTV series Made. Need I say more?
