Bleeding Through's last album, This Is Love, This Is Murderous, was my first introduction to the band and I felt it only showcased what they could be capable of. The Truth proves this theory correct. This album as a whole is the definition of metal in 2006: fast and relentless yet melodic and catchy. And in your face.

Bleeding Through has always been labeled as a metalcore band and to be honest there are about fifty other bands that sound just like them. That's not to say that they weren't any good but they just weren't indistinguishable from the rest of the genre's acts. For the most part This Is Love... was a strong effort but perhaps too technical at times. The album as a whole didn't have that sense of structure that I like. Songs seemed to take off in numerous directions and caused me to lose interest at various times. With The Truth the band has come together all around with an intense, groove laden, riff heavy record. The band has incorporated even more clean vocals and memorable choruses with this album somewhere along the likes of Trivium in style. The harsh vocal parts are delivered with a very Anselmo-like style and are intense as hell! Songs such as "Kill To Believe" and "For Love And Failing"' are instant metal anthems while the band even includes a ballad with "Line In The Sand." A dimension that is brought to the forefront of this release are the band's atmospheric keyboards, an element which is almost non-existent within this genre. They are comparable to keyboards you would here from a black metal band and they work very well to add depth to the album.

The Truth is an enormous step forward for Bleeding Through and should end up amongst the top metal releases of 2006. And that's a lot to say being it's one of the first big releases of the year. With continued progression on their next release, Bleeding Through could be the Pantera of the new millennium.

And what's not to like about an album whose opening lyric is "I don't give a fuck!"
