If Napalm Death is the Darth Sidious of British extreme metal, then Burning Skies is surely looking to stake their claim as their apprentice.

Greed.Filth.Abuse.Corruption is a blistering, fast-paced, aggressive album. If you’re looking for music to destroy a living room to, this is it. Clocking in at less than 30 minutes, Greed.Filth.Abuse.Corruption takes the grinding guitar riffs, politically-oriented lyrics and screeching vocals of Napalm and creates a brutal, hardcore slice of metal fun.

Vocalist Merv takes the growl of Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway a step further, adding high-pitched squeals with a vocal cadence inspired by American hardcore. The band plays every song at a breakneck pace that leaves you wondering if they’re going to strain something. Guitarist Liam adds some truly disturbing screams that enhance the brutality of the music.

The song titles are as metal as it gets: “You Don’t Have to Be Dead to Be in Hell,” “Rounding Up the Cattle,” “To Be the Man Who Has to Beat the Man,” “Spat Out and Stamped On,” “It’s Hard to Breathe with a Bag on Your Head” and “Slashed, Thrashed and Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition.” I’d give this thing a good review just on the song titles alone, but the music backs it up.

This is one of those albums where the whole is better than many of the individual parts. It’s best just to play the record from the beginning and let it beat the shit out of you. Burning Skies is a metal band to keep an eye out for in the future.
