Comeback Kid's official bio reads: "Originating in 2002 as a way to get out some fast, energetic music, CBK has since turned into one of the most infectious forces in independent music today."

I first heard this band on the Sirius Radio station Hard Attack. The song immediately caught my attention and I was quick to check them out on the Web and then to buy the CD at the local Wal-Mart (Yeah – Wal-Mart had this CD—I couldn't believe it!).

As said, Comeback Kid formed in 2002 out of Winnipeg, Canada, and Wake the Dead is their second release. They have played hundreds of shows with influential bands such as Terror, Throwdown, Every Time I Die, and Stretch Armstrong and have shared main stages at prestigious events such as Hellfest and Posi Numbers.

To me, this is hardcore in it's purest form possible in 2005. Although the title track is without a doubt the best song on this album, the rest of the disc follows suit with the same basic elements. The album hits you fast and hard right from the start with "False Idols Fall" and doesn't let up until the very end. All songs are fast and infectious at first, and even moreso after repeated listens. The vocals are very Minor Threat-ish and breakdowns and chant-alongs are found throughout. I even felt as if I was listening to Minor Threat several times during the CD, which is fine by me. The band is tight, not sloppy like a lot of punk bands try to be. The disc alo flies by in what seems like record time. The coolest thing was that after listening I couldn't help but return for repeated listens. This is what is missing from most releases out there today. This band made me want to come back for more.

All in all, this is an excellent release from a new, up-and-coming band and should definitely stand out among this year's punk and hardcore albums. If you want to play hardcore music in 2005, this is how it should be done.
