The Damned, The Shamed is the third full-length album from L.A. hardcore band Terror and their first for Century Media Records. Lead vocalist Scott Vogel is the heart and soul of this band and his ferocious roar is passionate and intense. A Terror live show is something every hardcore or metal fan should witness before they die. I caught these guys on Sounds of the Underground 2006 and they were one of the standouts of the day, as the crowd went into an absolute frenzy of hardcore dancing and moshing. Vogel was relentless on the mic and refused to let anyone stand still. He brings this same mentality to The Damned, The Shamed. There's even a song "Relentless Through and Through."

Produced by Zuess at Plant Z Studios, this is top-notch hardcore metal. No, not metalcore; there's no singing or really any melody whatsoever, save for a few brief moments. In fact, I'm not quite sure what Vogel is screaming about, but he's damn sure pissed off about something. The rest of the band, though far from original, still manages to stay a tier above most other current hardcore bands with their vicious, driving attack. Still, as with many hardcore bands, it seems almost as if I've heard this album before. Sworn Enemy, maybe? Also, don't hardcore bands usually take a stand against something or an establishment? I'm not sure what Terror stands for. Relentlessness and survival in general is my best guess. Or perhaps it's just playing hardcore for the sake of breaking necks in the mosh pit. Nothin' wrong with that.
