Making their home on the hardcore-based label 1981 Records, To This Day delivers an excellent blend of hardcore and metal on Chapter 1: Between the Bridges. Like so many other acts in metal today, their sound is indistinguishable from a slew of other bands. But good music is good music. To This Day will appeal to fans of Hatebreed first and foremost, with chunky breakdowns and tough guy street vocals in the vein of Jamey Jasta. There are also similarities to Bleeding Through and It Dies Today.
The sound is somewhat accessible, avoiding entering into extreme metal territory, keeping a steady, mid-pace tempo. To This Day would make for a solid support band for any of the more prominent hardcore or metalcore bands. Everything is in place, but this band could be a force to be reckoned with in the near future if they had stronger, more memorable lyrics. They are best suited to the hardcore sound of a song like “Danny Fresh and Ruffled Skirts," but there is enough here to fill a hefty hardcore or metal appetite. You really can't go wrong with any of Chapter 1: Between the Bridges if your a fan of this genre.
