Style: Death/Thrash
If somebody talks about technical death thrash metal in the future, there is no way to get past Hokum. They have found their very own style and easily manage to connect musical aggressiveness with well composed harmony lines. Since the beginning in 2000, Hokum knew what should stand for their style: technical perfection on their instruments without overplaying or forgetting about the song itself. Two guitars which push each other to majestic solos, the driving and sophisticated work of the rhythmic section and nonetheless absolute live compatibility; that's what the band aims for. Hokum's reputation as an excellent live band has grown since their first gigs in 2003. Several festival appearances and opening for headliners like Unleashed, Communic, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter and Cataract greatly enlarged their fan base. The incredible presence of Hokum made it possible for them to triumph over different mainstream bands at the Kulturalarm band contest in 2005 and take first place. In March 2006, the EP, No Escape was published, which manages to unite fans of the most different musical genres and unleash waves of rapture and highest ratings in the international press.
The CD was recorded by Yogi Lang, the singer of the prog rock heroes RPWL and over 50 positive reviews have since been published. Hokum was compared to the many different bands, ranging from old Metallica and Testament to Atheist and Cannibal Corpse. Nevertheless, Hokum's resume always is: Hokum can only be compared to Hokum alone.
