Scream Aim Fire with
Bullet For My Valentine
By JASON PRICE
Bullet for My Valentine has come a long way since its formation in 2003 in Bridgend, South Wales. The band broke free of the nu-metal frenzy that was all the rage at the time and found its a powerful, unique voice. Their debut album, The Poison, released in the late 2005, quickly took listeners in the U.S. and U.K. by storm. The band released four tracks from that album, "4 Words (To Choke Upon)", "Suffocating Under Words of Sorrow (What Can I Do)", "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)" and "Tears Don't Fall," all of which made excellent showing on the charts.
The band brought The Poison to the masses with a grueling tour schedule, including multiple stints at the Download Festival and support slots with rock icons Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden and Rob Zombie. Taking the stage in front of bands like this is no small feat for any fledgling band. As with any journey, there are stumbling blocks along the way. Such was the case when the band had a falling out with Rob Zombie while touring the United States in 2006. However, the band quickly put that incident behind them to focus on their music and their future. After leaving the tour, the band continued to power on and bring their music to fans who where looking for a truly unique sound and sonically diverse live show. During a live performance, it is easy to see that they bring an incredible stage presence beyond their years, as they easily ignite the passion of the crowd.
The Welsh rockers are now set to release Scream Aim Fire worldwide on Jan. 28, 2008. On their sophomore release, the band does not disappoint and continues to move forward musically. The album features 11 new songs which, in the words of frontman Matthew Tuck, are "really melodic heavy metal ... catchy, hooky choruses and full-on vocals, with the music being very in-your-face and heavy...it's a lot more uptempo [than The Poison], a lot more aggressive."
With Scream Ain Fire, they have managed to bottle the ferociousness of their live shows and channel the power and fury of early Metallica albums. This, of course, is a bold statement, but this band is one that surely has the talent and drive to deliver. Bullet for My Valentine has been no stranger to paying their dues and now, in 2008, is ready to deliver fans a brand new, heavy-hitting album. The band will hit the ground running after the album's release, taking part in the 2008 Taste of Chaos tour with other bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Idiot Pilot and Blessthefall.
Bullet for My Valentine is definitely a band on the rise and one to watch in 2008.
