Unearth: “Living in the Shadows”

Thirteen years after forming, Unearth is still standing—on stages around the world for about two years at a time. That dedication both to hitting the pavement and refining its sound over the course of five studio albums has taken Unearth close to the top of the underground metal scene in the United States. With the July release of Darkness in the Light, another touring cycle has just begun, starting with a slot on the Jägermeister Stage of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the band’s first U.S. festival run in five years. At the tour’s stop at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, N.J., Live-Metal.net sat down with vocalist Trevor Phipps to get up to date on the latest Unearth happenings. (more…)

Marduk has said Iron Dawn is a sampler for its next full-length release. As far as samplers go, it’s pretty good, giving you what you would expect from Marduk. It appears they will be continuing the World War II themes they started exploring on Panzer Division Marduk(more…)

deathwolfAs side projects go, Death Wolf is a pretty damn good one.

The band was founded in 2000 by Marduk guitarist Morgan Hakansson under the name Devil’s Whorehouse. In its original incarnation, the band was into high-speed Misfits-style horror punk. But Hakansson and company have switched gears, changed the name to Death Wolf and released an album of thoroughly pummeling, punk and groove-based metal. (more…)
