‘What are the rules and how can we break them?’

In less than a year, Blake Allison and Joey “Chicago” Walser, late of Egypt Central, went from total uncertainty about their musical future to becoming one of the more successful new rock bands of 2013 with their latest outfit, Devour the Day. Hit singles “Good Man” and “Move On” have introduced listeners to two ever-evolving artists who prefer honesty in their music over writing songs for sports arenas. With a revamped version of their debut, Time & Pressure, in stores now and appearances lined up at the festivals Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rock on the Range, 2014 could prove to be an even bigger year for Devour the Day. Joey recently checked in from the road with Live Metal’s Greg Maki. (more…)

Mark "Kaz" Kasprzyk of Redlight King

Mark “Kaz” Kasprzyk of Redlight King

‘Live long and rock on’

Redlight King started making waves with the singles “Bullet in My Hand” and “Old Man,” from its first album, Something for the Pain (2011). But it’s “Born to Rise,” the lead single from album No. 2, Irons in the Fire (released in September 2013), that’s taking the band to the next level. This is no overnight sensation, however. Frontman Mark “Kaz” Kasprzyk has been in the game for 15 years and has overcome demons to reach this point. Sober and focused, he seems to be on the verge of stardom, yet he remains  humble and appreciative. When a recent tour with Halestorm came to Baltimore, Kaz sat down backstage at Rams Head Live with Live Metal’s Greg Maki. (more…)
