NEW YORK — Black Label Society has debuted a new music video for its hit single, “My Dying Time,” exclusively through VEVO. Directed by Justin Reich of The Antimatter Studio, the video shows frontman Zakk Wylde and newcomer Dario Lorina shining brighter than ever.

Extreme metal icons Arch Enemy will unleash their 9th studio album, War Eternal, worldwide via Century Media Records (Trooper Entertainment in Japan) on June 9th in Europe and June 10th in North America. The artwork for the album was created by Costin Chioreanu (, who previously worked with Michael Amott on Spiritual Beggars’ re-issue of their self-titled debut. (more…)

BALTIMORE — This year’s Shindig Music Festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 27, at Carroll Park in Baltimore, will feature alternative rock legends Jane’s Addiction and punk rock favorites Rise Against as co-headliners.

Organized by 24-7 Entertainment, the festival’s lineup also includes Gogol Bordello, Clutch, Fishbone, Halestorm, Lucero, J Roddy Walston & The Business, Larry and His Flask, The Mahones, The Bots, Charm City Devil and Bad Seed Rising.

NEW YORK — 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ace Frehley will release Space Invader, his first new solo album in five years, via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) on June 24, 2014. The album will include at least nine new, original songs, as well as a cover of Steve Miller’s “The Joker.” This album is the first release under Frehley’s new universal deal with eOne Music. This was some somber news that broke in the metal world yesterday, but I also have a great memory of Gwar.

Dave Brockie, who fronted the heavy metal band Gwar using the stage name “Oderus Urungus,” was found dead in his Richmond, Va., home. He was 50.

Gwar has been around forever it seems (since 1984), but Brockie’s death leaves the band without any of its founding members and its future in question. I feel guilty saying this at this time, but I was never really a fan. However, this was certainly a band that demanded attention, whether you heard or read the name, saw a music video back in the day (check out Billboard’s list of Gwar’s 10 Most Outrageous Videos here), or happened to see them live, like we did, on the Sounds of the Underground tour in 2006 (a tour of extreme, thrash and hardcore that ran from 2005 to 2007). Well, “Hair Force One” is back with a new album, with everything over-the-top and lovable that is Edguy. Sevendust has announced the second leg of its “An Evening with Sevendust” acoustic U.S. tour, which kicks off April 1 in Athens, Ga., at the Georgia Theatre.  The band is hitting the road to promote its long-awaited acoustic album, Time Travelers & Bonfires, which will be released April 15 on 7Bros. Five Finger Death Punch on the set of its latest video, “The House of the Rising Sun.”

Five Finger Death Punch today unveiled the video for its latest single, “The House of the Rising Sun.” The song comes from the band’s latest album The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Volume 2. Both Volume 1 and Volume 2 were released in 2013, each debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

The gasoline-soaked cinematic video was filmed in the high deserts of Nevada, directed by the band’s guitarist Zoltan Bathory in conjunction with Thought Pirates Film’s Brian Neal, while Steve Darnell of the Welder Up Garage built the cars and handled the set design. (more…)
