George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher of Cannibal Corpse

Cannibal Corpse will kick off 2016 with one of the most bludgeoning death metal tour lineups of the year! The over month-long trek, presented by The Noise, will tear across North America beginning on February 12th and run through March 20th. The band will be joined by fellow Floridian death metal progenitors, Obituary, as direct support, followed by Canada’s Cryptopsy, and Los Angeles’ Abysmal Dawn. Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion expands to three full days in 2016, featuring best of today’s rock, along with classic artists playing on four stages, the expanded Pig-Out BBQ village and premium camping facilities. The 2016 festival is set for May 6, 7 and 8 at Rock City Campgrounds at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte, and will feature performances from over 50 top rock artists including Disturbed, The Scorpions, Rob Zombie, ZZ Top, Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Deftones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, A Day to Remember, 3 Doors Down, Alice Cooper, Bring Me the Horizon, Cypress Hill, Pennywise and Lamb of God.

The Mid-Atlantic’s Biggest Rock Festival sold out in advance in 2015, with a record-setting 80,000 fans in attendance for the fifth annual Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion.

Florida’s biggest rock festival kicks off the World’s Loudest Month festival series and will offer multiple onsite experiences, including Monster Energy artist autograph signings and beverage sampling, Gourmet Man Food, Tequila World, MAKE YOUR MARK Graffiti Zone, the first-ever Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Row Experience, The Music Experience, Jacksonville Jaguars facilitating various onsite activities during the festival, other art installations and more to be announced. Veteran progressive metal band Dream Theater is set to release The Astonishing, an ambitious double concept album, on Jan. 29. The band premiered the album’s lead single, “The Gift of Music,” in an interview with Rolling Stone in which guitarist John Petrucci discussed the project’s origins.

Consisting of 34 tracks spread across two acts, The Astonishing is available now for pre-order at all DSP’s (, with all orders accompanied by an instant grat download of “The Gift of Music,” which is streaming on Dream Theater’s official YouTube channel. “The Gift of Music” plus additional Dream Theater material also can be streamed here:

Like everyone else in the music world, Live Metal is deeply saddened by the passing of Scott Weiland. The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman was found dead on his bus last night, Dec. 3, while on tour with his latest band, dubbed Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, in Boomington, Minnesota. Rock on the Range, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary May 20, 21 and 22, 2016, at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, will feature a lineup headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Disturbed and Rob Zombie. Performers also will include Shinedown, Five Finger Death Punch, Bring Me the Horizon, A Day to Remember, Megadeth, At the Drive-In, Lamb of God, Sixx:A.M., Hellyeah and Pennywise.
