Revered for its aggressive and intense music coupled with self-empowering and positive lyrics, hardcore/metal band Hatebreed releases “Looking Down The Barrel of Today,” the first music video from their upcoming album, The Concrete Confessional, due out May 13 (Nuclear Blast worldwide).

Directed by David Brodsky (Cannibal Corpse, Whitechapel, All That Remains) the performance piece was shot earlier this month at the band’s rehearsal space in Connecticut.  The video opens with the preface “Welcome to Two Minutes and Forty-Seven Seconds with Hatebreed,” and includes special text throughout that was written by vocalist Jamey Jasta as a message of keeping a positive mental attitude. Avatar will release their very first concept album titled Feathers & Flesh on Friday, May 13, 2016 via Entertainment One (eOne) in North America and Canada and Another Century overseas. The new release will be the band’s highly anticipated follow-up to Hail The Apocalypse released in 2014, which cracked the Billboard Top 200 for the first time in the band’s career. French metal outfit, Gojira have announced its new album, Magma, arriving June 17 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2012’s acclaimed L’enfant Sauvage, the new record was produced, mixed and engineered by the band. Gojira have also shared a music video for “Stranded,” Magma‘s first single. Directed by Vincent Caldoni, the sepia-toned video sees the band performing while a paint-covered dancer writhes and contorts on the ground. Five Finger Death Punch and Shinedown are partnering to co-headline a U.S. arena tour in the fall, kicking off Oct. 18 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and crisscrossing North America through December. See tour dates below. More dates will be announced soon.

The tour also will feature Sixx:A.M., with vocalist/producer James Michael, bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist Dj Ashba, and U.K. newcomers As Lions, featuring Austin Dickinson.

Washington, D.C.-based prog innovators Periphery will return this summer with a new album, Periphery III: Select Difficulty (July 22, Sumerian Records), and a U.S. tour, dubbed the “Sonic Unrest” tour, launching Aug. 4.

Periphery III: Select Difficulty is finally complete and we’re extremely excited to show everyone,” said guitarist Jake Bowen. “For the past couple of years, we’ve been refining our collaborative process as a band, and we feel that it’s only getting better with the completion of this album. We spent two months writing songs that are not only representative of the Periphery sound but also reflect where all of us are as musicians. The band performance times and stage designations have been announced for the sixth annual Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion–May 6, 7 and 8 at Rock City Campgrounds at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, just outside Charlotte.

The Mid-Atlantic’s Biggest Rock Festival will feature performances from over 50 top rock artists playing on four stages, including Disturbed, Scorpions, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Deftones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, A Day to Remember, 3 Doors Down, Alice Cooper, Bring Me the Horizon, Cypress Hill, Pennywise, Lamb of God and many others. The festival also will feature multiple onsite experiences including premium camping facilities, and an expanded Pig Out BBQ Village featuring Gourmet Man Food that reflects cuisine of the region and the cultural food explosion that is happening around the country.

Dirt Fest 2016, featuring Killswitch Engage, Asking Alexandria, Hatebreed, Trivium, Attila and more, will go down Saturday, Aug. 13, at its new Metro-Detroit location.

A newly reunited Bury Your Dead will perform for the 10th anniversary of its iconic record “Beauty and the Breakdown,” along with Michigan natives Walls of Jericho and Wilson.

Dozens more acts will round out the lineup of metal, hardcore and hard rock bands performing on multiple stages at the Crofoot Festival Grounds in downtown Pontiac, Michigan. (more…)

Lacuna Coil will make its return to North American as part of its “Delirium Worldwide” tour starting May 7 in San Francisco. The Italian band’s new album, Delirium, is set for a May 27 release through Century Media Records.

Following the first leg of the tour, which features Butcher Babies, 9ELECTRIC and Painted Wives, the second leg (starting May 31) will see Stitched Up Heart join the lineup as direct support while 9ELECTRIC and Painted Wives continue to round out the package.
