After wrapping a North American fall headline tour, Wednesday 13 is ready to announce his extended plans for next year. He will embark on a winter 2017 acoustic tour. In addition to performing an entirely stripped down set, Wednesday 13, who is formerly one-half of the Murderdolls with Slipknot’s Joey Jordison, will share stories and engage in a Q&A session with fans during the show.

The hour had yet to reach noon when they began to mass in Baltimore’s Fell’s Point on Thames Street, outside The Sound Garden, one of the few remaining independent record stores. For most of the afternoon, they waited under the hot August sun as their numbers grew along with their anticipation. All had come for a singular purpose: to partake in the rituals of Ghost–rituals that, on this day, were to be a new sort of experience compared to those with which they may have been accustomed.
Just prior to the hour of 4 and 30, Sound Garden proprietors beckoned inside the gathered masses, hundreds quickly filling the store, voices ready to join in the performance to come, hands prepared to clap and cameras set to capture the action.
At 5 p.m., a door opened and two Nameless Ghouls–masked, dressed in black–entered, climbed the steps to the small stage, where acoustic guitars waited for them. Then followed the “new” face of Ghost, Papa Emeritus III, wearing an elegant suit today instead of his normal papal attire.

Nearly two decades into its career, Sevendust still is finding ways to keep its music fresh and exciting. This year, it’s with the (mostly) acoustic album Time Travelers & Bonfires and the accompanying “Evening with Sevendust” tour. Funded by the fans through PledgeMusic, the record features six new songs and six new versions of tunes from the extensive Sevendust catalog. It’s a must-have for any fan of the band. Vocalist Lajon Witherspoon recently checked in from the road to discuss the album and tour with Live Metal’s Greg Maki. (more…)

Long one of the most versatile bands in hard rock/metal, Sevendust has answered its fans many pleas over the years and unplugged in the studio for Time Travelers & Bonfires, a collection of six new tracks and six re-recorded songs from its past. I don’t know if it will win and new converts, but the result is likely to please those fans. (more…)

Within Temptation were recently interviewed and played live in the studio (performing as a three-piece) for the Polish radio station ESKA ROCK. The band’s live in-studio version of “And We Run,” from its newly released 2014 album, Hydra can be viewed below. The album (and of course much heavier and “plugged”) version features rapper, Xzibit on the track.

Whereas Ancient VVisdom’s last album, A Godlike Inferno, professed the worshiping of Lucifer through the band’s dark, cvlt acoustic rock and bold lyrics, 2013’s Deathlike is what the title suggests. The album’s 12 tracks explore death, from the beginning to the end and the realms beyond, all set to the band’s signature sound (more…)

Nonpoint cuts the cord, goes acoustic for new EP
It’s been almost 13 years since Nonpoint formed in South Florida, and suddenly everything is new again. New management, new label, new guitarist, one new release available and another in the can. First up: the digital-only acoustic EP Cut the Cord, featuring new takes on five songs from the first three Nonpoint albums and released through the band’s own 954 Records imprint in partnership with Rocket Science Ventures/RED/Sony. Up next: a new full-length, possibly self-titled studio album recently recorded at the Belle City Sound studios in Racine, Wis., with Mudvayne/HellYeah’s Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett producing. That should be coming our way in the spring, while summer could see the release of a second acoustic EP. As if that wasn’t enough, touring plans for the new year should be finalized soon. Frontman Elias Soriano checked in with Live Metal’s Greg Maki to give us the details on all of the latest Nonpoint happenings. (more…)
