Corey Taylor of Stone Sour

Stone Sour will return to the live stage Thursday, May 18, at the Rock on the Range official festival kickoff party at Express Live in Columbus, Ohio.

An exclusive presale for Rock on the Range ticket purchasers is underway now. Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon EST Friday, March 10, at and via Ticketmaster. To celebrate the 11th annual ROTR, tickets will be available for $11 plus service fees.

The exclusive set will mark Stone Sour’s first show in support of Hydrograd, the new album coming this summer. Hydrograd, which the band just completed work on, will be the band’s first studio album since the House of Gold & Bones double album set in 2013.  (more…)

Zakk Wylde

Guitar icon Zakk Wylde has debuted the music video for “Lost Prayer,” from his latest solo album, Book of Shadows II. Directed by longtime collaborator Justin Reich, it is the second video from BOSII.

Last summer, Wylde released the “Sleeping Dogs” video, featuring Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. That track has become the most successful active rock radio single of Wylde’s career, reaching number 15 in the U.S. and number five in Canada. (more…)

Zakk Wylde has announced a select number of meet-and-greet appearances surrounding the launch of Wylde Audio. Fans will have a chance to meet the metal icon in-store and test out his new line of Wylde Audio guitars and more.

Wylde chose to join forces with Guitar Center on a new line of guitars from his new company because he admired its commitment to encouraging new talent and supporting musicians of all skill levels and genres. Wylde’s new line of guitars includes three unique models (Odin, Viking and Warhammer) that are available at Guitar Center stores and online. To celebrate, the former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist and Black Label Society founder is heading out on the road this September to meet with fans at select Guitar Center stores across the country. Don’t tell anyone, but Corey Taylor was actually a really nice dude.

Better late then never, here are our top Live Metal interviews of 2014. With so many shows, festivals, in-person and phone interviews that took place, there were a few that stood out from the rest of the pack. From interviewing Corey Taylor at his Roast on the Range, to talking with Mushroomhead vocalist J Mann about his return and the band’s comeback, to frontman Rick DeJesus of Adelita’s Way holding nothing back on his disgust with the music industry, 2014 saw some of our most popular interviews since we began in 2006. A lineup including some of the biggest names in rock has been announced for the fifth annual Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, May 2 and 3, at Rock City Campgrounds at Charlotte Motor Speedway just outside Charlotte, N.C.

The Mid-Atlantic’s biggest rock festival will feature performances from Slipknot, Korn, Godsmack, Marilyn Manson, Slayer, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Rise Against, Sammy Hagar & The Circle (Michael Anthony, Jason Bonhamand Vic Johnson), Breaking Benjamin, Bush and many more top rock bands. It was billed as the “Prepare for Hell Tour,” and there was no more appropriate place to start the journey than Murdertown, aka Flint, Michigan, via that nightmare of a city’s native sons, KING 810. Led by volatile frontman David Gunn, whose fury was never more than barely contained, the quartet brought the spirit of its hometown—that unflinching, survival-of-the-fittest mentality necessary for survival on its streets—to the thousands of early arriving fans in Baltimore. Slipknot will release its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, on Oct. 21, and launch its North American “Prepare for Hell” tour immediately following the band’s Knotfest (Oct. 24 to 26).

.5: The Gray Chapter is available now for pre-order from the iTunes Store, with all pre-orders receiving instant downloads of the songs “The Devil In I” snd “The Negative One.”

During the red carpet portion for the recent Monster Energy Roast on the Range with Corey Taylor, the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman dropped some exciting news on us. When we brought the band (and former rivals) Mushroomhead to his attention, Taylor said he  once again was working on a tour that would unite the two mask-donning bands. But that’s not all. He added that he wanted GWAR and Mudvayne to be part of the bill, as well, potentially making this one of the biggest metal tours to happen in some time. (more…)
