The past year has been a celebration of all things Glenn Danzig. Last September, the legendary horror punk band The Misfits—featuring bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle, with help from guitarist Acey Slade and drummer Dave Lombardo—finally reunited live with Danzig on vocals for the first time in 33 years. 2017 also marks the 25th anniversary of the Danzig classic (and my favorite of his albums) Danzig III: How the Gods Kill, and a subsequent celebratory tour also was announced. Finally, Danzig recently hosted a two-day festival version of “Blackest of the Black” (formerly a tour) May 26 and 27 in Silverado, California, that featured Danzig headlining a lineup that featured Ministry, Suicidal Tendencies, Vamps, Marduk, Suicide Silence and many more. Got all that? Guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein is set to star in Death Ward 13, a remake of the cult-classic film Don’t Look in the Basement. With his iconic Devilock hair and impressive physical build, Doyle is best known as the guitar player for the American horror punk band the Misfits and will play the most terrifying character in the film. Now in pre-production, Death Ward 13 is directed by award-winning horror filmmaker Todd Nunes (All Through the House) and produced by the Readmond Company.

”I’m looking forward to starting my movie career with a starring role in Death Ward 13,” Doyle said. “It’s time to release the beast on the big screen. Let the killing begin!”

“With Doyle’s horror punk background, we’ve always been looking for opportunities to have him cross over into film, but nothing has sparked his interest until now,” said Bruce Miyaki (Insane Management.) “Death Ward 13 is a great breakout film for Doyle—his fans are going to love it.” (more…)

Butcher Babies

It’s been a relatively fast rise for Butcher Babies. The quintet, fronted by eye-catching vocalists Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd, released its debut album, Goliath, in 2013 and already has done time on the road with Danzig, Marilyn Manson, Black Label Society, Down, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch and many more. Now, they’re about to unleash Uncovered, an EP showing a truly eclectic range of roots and influences, and embark on their first headlining tour. Carla recently checked in with Live Metal’s Greg Maki to talk about those two exciting happenings, as well as her new book (Death & Other Dances) and more. (more…)
