It had been more than two years since I had seen Amaranthe open for Within Temptation (read review), also in Baltimore, Maryland. Now, with the success of Massive Addictive and its most recent album, Maximalism, Amaranthe has graduated from opening act to headliner. Amaranthe will make their triumphant return to North America this spring for a headline tour. This marks the first time the band has cruised through the U.S. and Canada since last fall, when they served as main support for Within Temptation (Read the live review from the Rams Head Live date of that tour here). A mere week after premiering the brand new song “Drop Dead Cynical,” the first sonic taste of the new album Massive Addictive, due out October 21 via Spinefarm Records, Amaranthe have followed up by debuting the accompanying and thoroughly majestic video for the song. It’s epic and visually arresting. Seriously, this is one video you do not want to miss because it is over the top in all the right ways. There’s more than a dozen MMA fighters, cheerleaders and lots and lots of pyro.
