Dutch symphonic metal band Epica have launched the new music video for”Beyond The Matrix” taken from the band’s latest album The Holographic Principle.

Frontwoman Simone Simons comments: “The energy that lives within “Beyond the Matrix” is extremely contagious. It will sweep you off your feet when the melodies enter your mind. The video embodies the spirit and liveliness of Epica. Transcend together with us and shine past the sky”

Metallica even released an album in 2016!

So the ball may have dropped long ago on 2016, which many deemed a dreadful year for entertainment due to many high-profile celebrity deaths. While our genre has lost some legends in recent years, hard rock and metal continue to thrive. I see bands rising and carrying the torch. We have the “world’s loudest month” in the U.S. for rock festivals. Metal is the most streamed genre on Spotify. Newer bands of all types of rock and metal subgenres continue to open eyes and ears not just here, but as always, worldwide. As usual, my list came down to the albums that not only initially knocked me on my ass, but also had me coming back time and time again. It mostly comprises reliable favorites, but there are a couple new surprise entries, as well.

Epica’s North American Principle Tour made one of its last stops of its month-long trek at Baltimore Soundstage, and judging by the energy of the band and its fans, this show should go down as one of the strongest of the tour. According to Epica’s official Instagram, Soundstage won the “award for most crowdsurfers” of the tour, as hundreds of fans came to see the Dutch goddess Simone Simons lead the symphonic metal masters, who are supporting their new album, The Holographic Principle. The tour was an international affair, with Epica from the Netherlands, Italian symphonic death metallers Fleshgod Apocalypse, the Russian pagan tribe Arkona and The Agonist, which hails from Montreal, Canada. Holland’s greatest symphonic metal band, Epica, have finally put the last touches on their new upcoming studio album entitled The Holographic Principle. Once again it’ll be released worldwide via Nuclear Blast Records. The album was produced with Joost van der Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities. Dutch metallers Epica have launched the official live video for “Unchain Utopia”. It was recorded live earlier this year during the European Enigma Tour at their sold-out show at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, Belgium. The video was shot and edited by Jens De Vos and his team at Panda Productions. The show was recorded by Ace Zec and mixed by Epica producer Joost van der Broek. Epica recently announced their rescheduled North American Enigma Tour with Moonspell and Starkill, which will kick off on January 21st at Irving Plaza in New York.
