After touring the world this past year in support of their new album, Jomsviking (Live Metal #8 Album of 2016), Amon Amarth will head back out on the road this spring for a USA tour with Goatwhore! Starting April 30th, the trek also features select appearances by Amon Amarth at some of the nation’s premier music festivals: “Welcome to Rockville”, “Carolina Rebellion”, “Dark Lord Day”, “Northern Invasion”, and “Rock on the Range”. This will be the band’s first North American tour in support of their new album, The Satanist. Oh, Ozzfest, how I missed you. Sure, others have stepped in the three years since you were last a touring festival. But they’re just not the same. As great as the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is, it always feels like something is missing without the Prince of Darkness finishing off a hot, sweaty day of metal—even after he jettisoned longtime cohort Zakk Wylde in favor of Greek guitarist Gus G. of Firewind. This is one pissed off, no frills, Satanic-to-the-end metal band—enough said. goatwhoreNew Orleans’ Goatwhore plays violent, dark, brutal black metal. A Haunting Curse, their first release for Metal Blade Records, was recorded at Eric Rutan’s (Hate Eternal) Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Fla. Lead vocalist Ben Falgoust’s guttural vocals serve as an instant identification for the band, unlike the many high-pitched wailers of the black metal genre.  (more…)
