The line to get inside Rams Head Live was longer than I had ever seen at this venue. It was full of teenagers and kids even younger (along with some parents who probably would have preferred to be somewhere else), most dressed in black, many with makeup to match. The staffers manning the doors might have needed an extra Sharpie or two to draw the Xs on the hands of all those under 21.

The eardrum-piercing screams and chants of “Black Veil Brides!” started outside, echoing throughout the hallway leading to the venue. The reason? The doors had opened. Yeah, it was going to be that kind of night. Inside, the eager crowd greeted every small action—testing the smoke machine, fiddling with the lights—with the same cacophonous reaction. Guitarists and bassists have come and gone since the band started, and only former Econoline Crush drummer Jonny Haro (who also spent a brief period as a touring drummer for Stabbing Westward) has gone the distance with Hall. The lineup now includes former Amen guitarist Jinxx, guitarist Carlton Bost and bassist Brent Ashley. (more…)

Throwing the rigid electronics and programming out the door, The Dreaming is a down and dirty rock band, with influences ranging from punk to New Wave to metal and more. With the recording of its debut album nearly complete, the still unsigned band has taken to the road as the opening act on Cement Shoes Records’ “Congress of Corruption Tour” featuring Ill Niño, Godhead and Ra. Greg Maki of Live Metal sat down with the band—Hall, former Econoline Crush and Stabbing Westward drummer Johnny Haro, former Amen guitarist Jinxx and bassist Brent Ashley—in Towson, Md., on the day of the tour’s opening night.
