After returning from a triumphant run throughout South America and right before embarking on some shows with labelmates Arch Enemy and The Haunted, Lacuna Coil has released a new video for one of its crowd favorites, “Blood, Tears, Dust.” The video was directed and edited by Cosimo Alemà, and produced by the production company Borotalco.

“Right now I can’t tell you everything about ‘Blood, Tears, Dust,’ as this video is part of something bigger,” said vocalist Cristina Scabbia. “This is the core of who we are as a band: the sweat, the dirt, the raw energy. It’s our insanity and all of us feeling comfortable with it. I love how by Cosimo Alemà filmed this. The photography, the colors and the hints in the story are perfectly placed, and it is the first time we are really ‘acting.’ This video is only a part of a much bigger plan. .. Stay tuned. Hope you enjoy this video as much as I do!” (more…)

Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold

Celebrating its eighth annual installment, the three-day Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, is a lot to endure, but endure we did. Whether you were there as one of the 105,000 diehard rock fans of the sold-out event or, like us, to interview bands and take up shop in the photo pit, you were part of it. If you were kneeling over in the concourse as a casualty of consuming too much alcohol, if you were experiencing your first rock festival or if you were making it your personal campaign for the legalization of marijuana, you were part of it, as well. This one is history. And yes, we’re still looking for some of us.

Now that you’ve had a chance to read my preview I posted days ago, accounting some of the highlights of the long weekend, let’s talk about the actual live performances from a few of the 60 bands on the bill. (more…)

After the success of last year’s festival (sold-out with 32,000 in attendance), California’s biggest rock festival is expanding to four stages in 2014, offering more bands than ever.

The daily band lineup for Monster Energy’s Aftershock Festival is as follows, with more bands to be announced July 1:

Behind one of the best releases of the early part of 2014, Burn the Serum, Kyng (guitarist/vocalist Eddie Veliz, bassist Tony Castaneda and drummer Pepe Clarke) is making major waves in the world of hard rock/metal. Its riff-heavy music combines the best of Black Sabbath, Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age, and falls perfectly in line with Live Metal’s “Keeping Real Music Alive” slogan. They’ve made of fans of not only their peers but legends, such as James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine. But at the end of the day, they’re just three dudes, traveling the country without a crew or even a driver, and playing the music that is their passion. On the last night of a tour supporting Lacuna Coil, Castaneda sat down pre-show with Live Metal’s Greg Maki at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Md., to discuss the new album and more. (more…)
