One of the great personalities in rock ‘n’ roll history is Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Klimister, frontman for the legendary Motorhead and early bassist for British space-rockers Hawkwind. Few bands today embody the pure rock ‘n’ roll spirit as fully as Airbourne. As drummer Ryan O’Keeffe told us, there was no alternative career path, no plan B. In late September, frontman Joel O’Keeffe injured his ankle in a fall from the stage, but there was no quitting. He finished the song, the show and the tour. Rock ‘n’ roll is in these Australians’ blood, and there’s no turning back for them. The band’s fourth album, Breakin’ Outta Hell, released Sept. 23, is filled with the same kind of loud, brazen, bluesy party anthems found on its first three efforts. Some things are better left unchanged. Airbourne wrapped up its U.S. headlining tour in October in Baltimore, and Live Metal’s Greg Maki sat down on the band’s bus with Ryan O’Keeffe to discuss the new record and more. (more…)

Another year has come and gone, and in my opinion, 2015 was one of the strongest in recent memory in terms of quality hard rock and metal releases. My top 10 list includes bands on the rise, veteran acts reinventing themselves and a farewell to one of the most iconic figures in rock ‘n’ roll. I don’t expect everyone to agree with my picks, but you don’t have to. It’s my list, not yours. (more…)

1975275_767543546611289_1133079801_nMegadeth, Motörhead and Anthrax will perform on the inaugural Motörhead’s Motörboat cruise onboard the Carnival Ecstasy from Sept. 22 to 26, 2014. In addition to these three rock giants, “The Loudest Boat in the World” will feature performances from Zakk Wylde, Jim Breuer, Danko Jones, Fireball Ministry, Wilson and some big surprises. More bands will be announced soon.

Motörhead’s Motörboat will sail from Miami, visiting the ports of Key West, Fla., and Cozumel just off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. While onboard, guests will have the opportunity to interact with band members and see performances on various stages throughout the ship.  (more…)
