In This Moment’s debut album, Beautiful Tragedy, will be released on vinyl for the first time in February.

The album, released in 2007, reached No. 35 on Billboard’s Independent charts. In This Moment has gone to sell nearly half a million albums and, in 2014, released its major label debut, Black Widow, for Atlantic.

Though the band has risen to prominence on an electronic/industrial-tinged sound and an elaborate stage show, Beautiful Tragedy is a blend of metalcore and hard rock. From the lineup that recorded it, only vocalist Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth remain in the band today. Read Live Metal’s review, originally published in March 2007, here. (more…)

In This Moment made the jump to Atlantic Records for its latest album, 2014’s Black Widow, but its previous label home, Century Media, is behind its next release, Rise of the Blood Legion — Greatest Hits (Chapter 1), due in stores May 5.

Rise of the Blood Legion — Greatest Hits (Chapter 1) is a tribute dedicated to everyone who has risen with us through the blood, the sweat, the thick and the thin,” said vocalist Maria Brink. “We are honored to have such a beautiful connection with our Blood Legion family, It’s amazing that Century Media Records is releasing this compilation so everyone can hear our personal favorites over the last 10 years. We love you all, and the journey has just begun. Stay the course with us. ‘We are immortal, we rise from the wraith, we are eternal, you are my blood legion, my faith.’ (more…)

Since launching in 2010 with Shinedown as the headliner, Carnival of Madness has continued in subsequent years (with Alter Bridge and Theory of a Deadman in 2011, and Evanescence leading the bill in 2012). But it wasn’t the same, lacking the “event” status Shinedown brought to it.

The big boys returned this year, and brought with them their biggest production yet. A stage with raised platforms and walkways, copious amounts of pyro and even fire dancers and other carnival performers made it a spectacle before you even considered the music. (more…)

Live photos: Stone Sour, In This Moment, Hell or Highwater

Review by Greg Maki

Though Stone Sour has existed for more than a decade, it’s still a little odd to me to see the singer of Slipknot onstage grinning from ear to ear. On this night at the Fillmore, Corey Taylor had a lot to be happy about, chiefly the wildly enthusiastic reaction from the crowd—nearly sold out if not completely—to everything he did. From the many chants of “Corey! Corey!” to the excellent group singing, especially on the hits “Bother” and “Through Glass,” these fans came ready to be part of the show. And Taylor seemed humbled by the response and sincere in his many thank-yous. (more…)
