Eight years after The American Dream, Walls Of Jericho have found new allies in Napalm Records and released their latest and highly anticipated record (and Jeff’s #10 album of 2016) No One Can Save You From Yourself (review) in 2016.
There`s definitely no space for soft nuances! The band centered around power fronter Candace is famous for maddening riffing, downbeats and HUGE breakdowns. Fans worldwide count on the unmatched aggression and integrity of Detroit`s daughter and sons – be it at their brutal live shows or on record!
Just in time for the European EMP Persistence tour together with Suicidal Tendencies and Agnostic Front to name just a few from this killer line-up, the band released a brand new music video for the track “Forever Militant”! Watch the video inside: (more…)

Legendary melodic metal act In Flames announce the release of their twelfth full-length studio album Battles, out November 11 via Eleven Seven Music in the North America and Nuclear Blast globally excluding North America. Recorded in Los Angeles, the 15-track album sees the band taking a new approach while staying true to their vision and encompassing their unique, signature sound. In Flames brought in Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance, The Used) as a collaborator on Battles, creating an album that speaks to all In Flames fans alike.
“I think being in California really affected this album in the sense that we had a studio in the house that we were staying at and the vibe was really relaxed which lent itself to productivity,” says vocalist Anders Fridén. “It really helped having a producer who could make us focus on what we needed to accomplish and keep us on track,” he adds. “This was a very new approach for us because we’ve never let anyone else in the way we did with Howard,” says guitarist Björn Gelotte.
Confidence and palpable excitement is dripping all over Battles. The instantly infectious “take the power back” anthem “The Truth,” will hit radio airwaves this Friday, but fans can get a first taste of the new album with the unveiling of new track “The End” off the upcoming album. It will be available via streaming partners starting tomorrow 8/26. (more…)

Review by Jeff Maki
I remember Walls of Jericho being part of the second or third tier of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal bands in the mid-2000s. The band even got a coveted slot on Ozzfest 2006. Though it is from Detroit, the band’s hardcore/metalcore style had it lumped in with the rest of this pack. Vocalist Candace Kucsulain was on a short list of females fronting hardcore bands and still is to this day.
No One Can Save You from Yourself is the band’s first release since 2008, the members passing their time pursuing other ventures. I had all but forgot about Walls of Jericho. (more…)

With all the drama surrounding the 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and its lack of true headlining bands and low attendance, the timing of the 2015 Summer Slaughter Tour couldn’t have been any better.
But wait, there’s no one here either … (more…)

Molding an array of styles on its Victory Records debut album, Blind Until We Burn, Kissing Candice spent the summer promoting it by playing the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival’s Victory Records Stage. This year’s installment of the festival has been mired in controversy, started by festival co-founder Kevin Lyman and further stoked by Kerry King of Slayer, the festival’s headliner. Victory Records artists didn’t take too kindly to King calling the Victory Stage a “piece of shit record stage,” and as you may already have seen, Jungle Rot, Sister Sin and Kissing Candice all responded to King right here on Live Metal (Read here). Here is the interview we conducted with Kissing Candice in which the comments originated, along with the band discussing its diverse music style and fan base. (more…)

Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention to a band we interviewed earlier in the year, Righteous Vendetta. At the time, they were a little-known Christian metalcore-style band that I saw open the Ernie Ball stage (view live photos) at the 2014 Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio (May 16 to 18). Though they were a memorable live act and tight musically, this just wasn’t the kind of band I thought would start to blow up so quickly. Plus, they are a Christian band, often a death sentence for a band in the metal world. But since my introduction, Righteous Vendetta has started to make a name for itself, having toured with Trapt and currently out supporting Eyes Set to Kill and Nonpoint. After that tour, they’ll join Thousand Foot Krutch, We as Human and Like a Storm starting Oct. 12 through Nov. 9. They also just released an EP called Defiance (featuring “Take Over”) and have a hit radio single on Octane in”This Pain.”
So with all that said, let’s unveil this interview we did with vocalist Ryan Hayes earlier in the year. We better do it now before Righteous Vendetta blows up anymore and no one believes we met them first. In the interview, we talk about the bad rap given to “Christian” rock and how they plan to change it. (more…)
