On the business side, it might be harder for a band to exist now than it ever has been. But in the world of hard rock and metal, that hasn’t stopped countless acts from releasing album after album of quality material. Anyone who says there’s no good music today hasn’t looked past the FM dial. The previous year was one of the strongest in recent memory, highlighted by a number of veteran acts releasing albums that stand up to the best of their impressive back catalogues and newer bands still carving out names for themselves. Toothgrinder vocalist Justin Matthews describes the band’s full-length debut, Nocturnal Masquerade, as a “dark, eerie charade through the night.” One of the hardest things to do as a musician is to describe your own band’s music, but I couldn’t have said it better myself. (more…)

In its fifth year, Carolina Rebellion, held on a open field outside Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, was bigger than ever this year. The addition of a fourth stage brought the total number of bands over the two days to 39 and also spread out the festival over an almost excessively large space, driving the two main stages about a half-mile apart. This growth led to more attendees than ever before, too, with the crowd at the sold-out event reaching 40,000 on each day (based on an initial estimate of a total combined attendance of 80,000, provided by the festival’s publicist). Wovenwar are extremely excited to debut their amazing, new music video for the track “Death to Rights,” the latest single released from the band’s self-titled debut album. The clip was directed by Josh Klein and Nick Hipa.

Wovenwar continues their North American touring onslaught alongside In Flames and All That Remains on the “Charming America” tour, which kicks off on Feb 20th. Additionally, the band will be appearing at select record stores for acoustic performances over the next month. On January 31st, the will be appearing at Hastings in Littleton, CO, followed by a March 5th appearance at Record Exchange and Boise, ID, and March 7th at Silver Platters in Seattle, WA. Watch the video inside!  (more…)
