Comedian Jim Breuer and his backing band, the Loud & Rowdy, will release their debut album, Songs from the Garage, on May 27 via Metal Blade Records. The album features guests such as Brian Johnson (AC/DC), who provides vocals on two tracks, and producer/guitarist Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat).

Going into the record the music had to be killer and have great hooks, that was most important, and I wanted to balance that with something that’s funny. I wanted to bring the smile back to hard rock that has a nice punch to it,” Breuer said.

Initially known as the Jim Breuer Band, the Loud & Rowdy features Mike Tichy on drums, Joe Vigliotti on bass and Metal Mike on guitar. (more…)

About a month ago, Volbeat lead guitarist Rob Caggiano told us, “Next year is gonna be very light, I think, for Volbeat, as far as touring. There’s gonna be some stuff here and there, but overall, it’s gonna be kind of some chill time, creative time.” (Read the interview here.) Apparently, “very light” includes more than a month of tour dates in the United States and Canada with Caggiano’s former band, Anthrax, in support, along with openers Crobot. There never appeared to be any bad blood between Caggiano and Anthrax, and if Anthrax members Scott Ian, Charlie Benante and Frank Bello joining Volbeat onstage earlier this year at Carolina Rebellion didn’t confirm that, this tour announcement certainly does. The full press release and the initial tour dates are below. (more…)

Rock is dead? Someone forgot to tell Volbeat. The three-fourths Danish band has ridden a string of hit singles from its 2010 album, Beyond Hell/Above Heaven, and its latest release, last year’s Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, to its biggest U.S. tour to date, a co-headlining arena run with Five Finger Death Punch (with support from Hellyeah and Nothing More). Lead guitarist Rob Caggiano (the one-quarter of the band hailing from New York) never expected to end up in Volbeat when he left Anthrax about two years ago. But he quickly went from producing the newest album to becoming a full-fledged band member. And he couldn’t be happier about it. When the tour rolled into the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Md., Caggiano sat down for a chat with Live Metal’s Greg Maki. (more…)
