Can we end the debate now? Rock ‘n’ roll will never die. Metal will never die. Didn’t anybody listen to Neil Young? Didn’t anybody listen to Ronnie James Dio? If that isn’t enough, I have further proof in the 26,000 fans who attended the sold-out 2015 Rock Allegiance festival at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania. Featuring living legends Rob Zombie, Korn and Godsmack, current rock bands carrying the torch like Five Finger Death Punch and Bring Me the Horizon, along with a lineup of other mainstays and up-and-coming bands, Rock Allegiance was a nonstop day celebrating rock and metal. As all the members of Saint Asonia have said since the band went public in May 2015, frontman Adam Gontier (formerly of Three Days Grace) insisted onstage at Baltimore Soundstage that this is not a “supergroup” or a one-off deal. He said this band–also featuring guitarist Mike Mushok (Staind), drummer Rich Beddoe (formerly of Finger Eleven) and bassist Corey Lowery (Eye Empire, Stuck Mojo, Dark New Day) intends to be around for a while. If performances like this one on a Sunday night in Baltimore are the norm, that shouldn’t be a problem. (more…)

Keeping secrets in the age of social media is almost unheard of. Which is why it was such a shock in mid-May when a teaser video announced the arrival of Saint Asonia, a new act featuring frontman Adam Gontier (formerly of Three Days Grace), guitarist Mike Mushok (Staind), drummer RIch Beddoe (formerly of Finger Eleven) and bassist Corey Lowery (whose long resume includes Eye Empire, Stuck Mojo and Dark New Day). The band then made its live debut just days later at Rock on the Range, one of America’s premier hard rock festivals (view photos of the performance here), and announced the July 31 release of its self-titled, debut album through RCA. As the release date nears, the band has announced its first tour, set to kick off in August, and Mushok recently called in to chat with Live Metal’s Greg Maki. (more…)
