Amaranthe

Swedish band Amaranthe has announced a U.S. headlining tour for early 2017, with support from Failure Anthem, Citizen Zero, Cypher 16 and Smash into Pieces. The tour is the band’s first in support of its latest release, Maximalism, which came out in October via Spinefarm Records and featured the single “That Song.” Listen to it below.

“It is with great excitement that we can now confirm the next leg of our Maximalism world tour: North America!” said guitarist Olof Mörck. “A year has passed since our last visit, and we have been looking forward greatly to return!

“Joining us on this trek will be very special guests Failure Anthem, along with special guests Citizen Zero, Cypher 16 and Smash into Pieces, for a full evening’s worth of cutting edge metal from both sides of the Atlantic! Prepare yourself as the juggernaut known as the Maximalism world tour prepares to lay siege to your city in early 2017. All shall march to the sound of Maximalism!”

Airbourne

Airbourne

Few bands today embody the pure rock ‘n’ roll spirit as fully as Airbourne. As drummer Ryan O’Keeffe told us, there was no alternative career path, no plan B. In late September, frontman Joel O’Keeffe injured his ankle in a fall from the stage, but there was no quitting. He finished the song, the show and the tour. Rock ‘n’ roll is in these Australians’ blood, and there’s no turning back for them. The band’s fourth album, Breakin’ Outta Hell, released Sept. 23, is filled with the same kind of loud, brazen, bluesy party anthems found on its first three efforts. Some things are better left unchanged. Airbourne wrapped up its U.S. headlining tour in October in Baltimore, and Live Metal’s Greg Maki sat down on the band’s bus with Ryan O’Keeffe to discuss the new record and more. (more…)

“I’m gonna hit the highway and never look back” is the line that launches Airbourne’s latest single “Breakin’ Outta Hell.”

The lyric video accompanying the song—created by Richard Oakes from Dark Fable Media—may have implications for those with easy access to open roads. Watch the clip from start to finish and you might just get the urge to open the throttle.

“We get a lot of feedback from our fans saying how much they love the faster tracks,” said Airbourne frontman Joel O’Keeffe. “But when they play them in the car … well, it can be tough on their pocket with all the speeding fines! ‘Breakin’ Outta Hell’ is definitely one of THOSE numbers … Even the guys who filmed the lyric video were stopped by the police and given a fine.

“For us, these visuals really sum up the feeling behind the song and the album, too. The whole message is right there. Put on the single, or the album, and it’s, ‘Fuck the boss and fuck all the tax I owe. I’m going out, I’m getting pissed and I’m going to listen to some hard rock ‘n’ roll.’ No ballads, no bullshit. I’m breaking out of hell!” (more…)

Review by Jeff Maki
——
Toothgrinder vocalist Justin Matthews describes the band’s full-length debut, Nocturnal Masquerade, as a “dark, eerie charade through the night.” One of the hardest things to do as a musician is to describe your own band’s music, but I couldn’t have said it better myself. (more…)
