Eight years after The American Dream, Walls Of Jericho have found new allies in Napalm Records and released their latest and highly anticipated record (and Jeff’s #10 album of 2016No One Can Save You From Yourself (review) in 2016.

There`s definitely no space for soft nuances! The band centered around power fronter Candace is famous for maddening riffing, downbeats and HUGE breakdowns. Fans worldwide count on the unmatched aggression and integrity of Detroit`s daughter and sons – be it at their brutal live shows or on record!

Just in time for the European EMP Persistence tour together with Suicidal Tendencies and Agnostic Front to name just a few from this killer line-up, the band released a brand new music video for the track “Forever Militant”! Watch the video inside: (more…)

Metallica even released an album in 2016!

So the ball may have dropped long ago on 2016, which many deemed a dreadful year for entertainment due to many high-profile celebrity deaths. While our genre has lost some legends in recent years, hard rock and metal continue to thrive. I see bands rising and carrying the torch. We have the “world’s loudest month” in the U.S. for rock festivals. Metal is the most streamed genre on Spotify. Newer bands of all types of rock and metal subgenres continue to open eyes and ears not just here, but as always, worldwide. As usual, my list came down to the albums that not only initially knocked me on my ass, but also had me coming back time and time again. It mostly comprises reliable favorites, but there are a couple new surprise entries, as well.

Dirt Fest 2016, featuring Killswitch Engage, Asking Alexandria, Hatebreed, Trivium, Attila and more, will go down Saturday, Aug. 13, at its new Metro-Detroit location.

A newly reunited Bury Your Dead will perform for the 10th anniversary of its iconic record “Beauty and the Breakdown,” along with Michigan natives Walls of Jericho and Wilson.

Dozens more acts will round out the lineup of metal, hardcore and hard rock bands performing on multiple stages at the Crofoot Festival Grounds in downtown Pontiac, Michigan. (more…)

I remember Walls of Jericho being part of the second or third tier of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal bands in the mid-2000s. The band even got a coveted slot on Ozzfest 2006. Though it is from Detroit, the band’s hardcore/metalcore style had it lumped in with the rest of this pack. Vocalist Candace Kucsulain was on a short list of females fronting hardcore bands and still is to this day.

No One Can Save You from Yourself is the band’s first release since 2008, the members passing their time pursuing other ventures. I had all but forgot about Walls of Jericho. (more…)
