whitechapel-new-eraTouring with Slayer, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse and The Black Dahlia Murder (Rockstar Energy Mayhem), and others, clearly has been beneficial to the extreme deathcore outfit Whitechapel. A New Era of Corruption, the band’s third album, is a refined, futuristic, murderous venture with an edge as sharp as freshly cut steel. It’s the sound of a merciless band of killers, delivering an all-out assault on the senses and it’s tiers above 2008’s This Is Exile (a strong album in its own right). Touring with high-profile metal bands has refined Whitechapel’s songwriting abilities and the results are memorable, insanity-filled songs, yet with more of a verse-chorus-verse structure. (more…)

Whitechapel: “From Hell to Mayhem Fest”

Brutality, murderous lyrics, thrashing death metal—what else would you expect from a band named after London’s location of the Jack the Ripper’s murders? Whitchapel’s sophomore album, This Is Exile is as violent as it is intense, featuring a triple-guitar attack and insane extreme metal vocals. Live Metal caught up with guitarist Alex Wade during the tour’s stop at the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, VA. Wade talks about Whitechapel’s sound, the origins of the band and the Mayhem Festival. (more…)

whitechapel-exileIt’s good for bands to have shout-along choruses, charismatic frontmen, elaborate stageshows, synchronized headbanging and all the other cliches that come with heavy metal. But sometimes it’s equally as entertaining to have a band just outright kicks your fucking ass. And that’s Whitechapel. (more…)

whitechapel-somaticKnoxville band Whitechapel certainly has studied at the Cannibal Corpse school of heavy metal. With a mix of thrash and sludgy tempos, combined with maybe the deepest death grunts ever recorded and song titles like “Devirgination Studies,” Prostatic Fluid Asphyxiation” and “Festering Fiesta,” these guys are certainly well schooled.
